The gross revenue of such companies should be over $25 million and they should be handling personal information of 50,000 and more customers for doing their commercial activities. Further, the law also comes into force on all those companies who generate 50% of their revenues by making use of and selling personal information of customers.

When the act comes into force, it certainly will be useful to customers in more ways than one. They can ask for details about the personal information that has been used by them, sold or disclosed to third parties. The customers will also have the right to ask for information about the personal information that has been sold by the service providers apart from the information that has been used for meeting the marketing needs of the companies.
